Breathe, move, and dance with Jane Rosen
+ I am licensed as a black belt Nia instructor, a yoga instructor, and a certified teacher of yoga for children and teens with YogaKids, Yoga Ed, and Radiant Child Yoga. I also work with yoga teachers, classroom teachers, child therapists, parents, and other adults who are seeking active ways to interact with children using breath, movement, and yoga. My passion for fitness developed near the end of my 36-year career as an elementary classroom teacher, principal, university professor, and curriculum writer.
+ In 1998, I was still teaching elementary school in Chicago . I discovered that leading Nia classes after school was a great way to nurture myself and my colleagues after a full day of nurturing others. My teachers Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas, founders of Nia, as well as dozens of Nia colleagues around the world, continue to inspire me with their fierce creativity and vibrant well-being.
+ Nia sparked my interest in yoga, an important element of my Nia practice. My first experience of sharing yoga with children in my own fourth grade classroom in 1999 inspired me to pursue certification with Marsha Wenig's YogaKids International organization as a teacher and trainer. When I learned that the teachers and parents of my young students wanted classes for themselves, I added adult classes in 2004 with yoga teacher training from Don Wenig of Dancing Feet Yoga Center .

My husband Alex and I relocated in 2007 to western Massachusetts to be closer to some of our children and grandchildren. I now teach Nia classes in my home studio in Pittsfield and yoga classes in area schools. I am part of a local initiative sponsored by the Kripalu Yoga Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts , and Yoga Ed to bring yoga to children in Berkshire County schools. In the winter of 2008, I collaborated with YogaKids pioneer Marsha Wenig to introduce YogaKids teacher training at Kripalu. Marsha will return to Kripalu for an updated version of that program in 2009.
